Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, if he ever became the supreme decision maker in his country, would "sacrifice half of Iran for the sake of eliminating Israel," Giora Eiland, Israel's former national security adviser, told The Jerusalem Post on Thursday.
At present, Eiland stressed, the ultimate decision maker in Iran was Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, 67, whom he said was "more reasonable." But, Eiland went on, "if Ahmadinejad were to succeed him - and he has a reasonable chance of doing so - then we'd be in a highly dangerous situation."

The 49-year-old Iranian president, he said, "has a religious conviction that Israel's demise is essential to the restoration of Muslim glory, that the Zionist thorn in the heart of the Islamic nations must be removed. And he will pay almost any price to right the perceived historic wrong. If he becomes the supreme leader and has a nuclear capability, that's a real threat."

The European Jewish Congress informs that they will intent a legal action against Mahmoud Ahmadinejad that repeatedly and publicly declared that Shoah was a myth.

A petition that will be brought to European Parliament and other EU instition to declare the Iranian President Persona non grata in European Territory will also be issued

It is the first a true action is taken beyond words. I just wished it was initiated by a non jewish organization as those kinds of negativism concern all of us and not just jews.

I don t know if this action will do anything at all as Iran did not sign any international treaty about International Criminal Court. But what i know is that the world should lead more initiatives to stop this man.

Iran threatens again: Iran's Defense Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said Wednesday that the country and its allies could put Israel "in an eternal coma," like that of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, if Israel attempts to attack the Muslim republic.

Iran, whose president has denied the Holocaust in the past, said Sunday it would hold a conference to 'examine the scientific evidence' concerning Nazi Germany's extermination of 6 million Jews.

Hard-line Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has recently provoked global condemnation for saying the Holocaust is a "myth" and calling for Israel to be wiped from the face of the earth.

"It is a strange world. It is possible to discuss everything except the Holocaust," Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi told reporters.
On Saturday, Ahmadinejad urged the West to be open-minded enough to allow a free international debate on the real aspects of the Holocaust...

L'histoire est-elle un éternel recommencement ?

Voici un pays, l'Iran, victime d'un groupe d'ayatollahs sanguinaire, totalitaire et dangereux dont le chef annonce que son Etat doit posséder et développer l'arme atomique sur son territoire, et qu'Israël doit être rayé de la carte, ou déplacé en Europe, avant d'envisager une guerre contre l'Occident «dépravé».

Ils sont sanguinaires ; on oublie trop souvent qu'il ne s'agit pas ici de leader au service de la population, mais d'un peuple sacrifié à une idéologie, une religion ?

On oublie qu'en 1981, les ayatollahs avaient fait déminer les théâtres d'opérations de la guerre Iran-Irak par des enfants, tout en ayant au préalable attaché sur leurs poitrines un exemplaire du Coran. Aujourd'hui encore ce scénario se reproduit, les kamikazes en Irak sont maintenant recrutés chez les enfants. Dix ans ! Ce climat de terreur s'instaure et les populations sont sans défense.

On ne tergiverse pas avec la réalité, la plus brutale. Si rien n'est fait, nous aurons aujourd'hui le déshonneur et demain la guerre.

Au lieu de fermeté, l'Occident hésite, dissimule, condamne du bout des lèvres. Quand verrons-nous la vérité ? Faut-il attendre que les premiers essais atomiques aient lieu ? Faut-il attendre que la première fusée soit expérimentée ? Ou alors qu'un pacte d'alliance lie les extrémistes d'Afghanistan, du Pakistan, d'Irak et de Syrie ? Si ce n'est déjà fait.

C'est aujourd'hui quand la puissance de l'Iran est encore hésitante qu'il faut agir.

L'action internationale en Irak, l'envoi d'inspecteurs, la recherche d'éléments nucléaires, chimiques, a abouti à une guerre sans vainqueur, mais avec un vaincu, le peuple irakien. La pertinence de cette guerre ne se discute plus, le mal est fait. Un dictateur est tombé, la guerre civile s'est installée. Les extrémismes sont en action.

Aujourd'hui, cette situation ne doit pas nous faire craindre d'agir en Iran, dont le leader proclame à la face du monde ses intentions belliqueuses. D'inspecteurs, il n'y aura pas besoin, l'intention est claire !

C'est pourquoi l'embargo ici est nécessaire. Embargo sur le pétrole et sur le commerce.
On rétorquera que ce sont les populations qui en souffriront. Pourtant c'est en asphyxiant l'économie que l'embargo sera efficace. L'Afrique du Sud, la Rhodésie ont plié quand le monde, horrifié par l'apartheid, s'est uni pour le combattre. Dira-t-on que j'exagère ? Faut-il attendre l'irrémédiable et la guerre meurtrière ? Ce n'est jamais à genoux que l'on entre dans un conflit !

Pourquoi l'Iran résisterait-il ?

Le peuple iranien, celui qui vit en Iran, comme celui qui a fui, sait bien que le régime est odieux et dangereux. Les antennes paraboliques sont autant d'armes qui pénètrent dans chaque foyer iranien pour les informer et dire qu'il n'est pas seul devant ses bourreaux. Antennes qui proclament que ces femmes ne sont pas seules devant l'humiliation et la persécution !
Internet qui montre aux étudiants que le régime qui les asservit n'est pas une fatalité !

L'heure de la diplomatie de salon est terminée, la situation géopolitique ou géoreligieuse est de plus en plus tendue et l'islam radical de plus en plus organisé et transnational.
C'est une nouvelle forme de guerre qui a pris forme.

Alors, allons-nous nous contenter d'observer ? Pouvons-nous croire à l'action du verbe et espérer quelques jours supplémentaires de tranquillité ?

Il est encore temps d'user de la fermeté sans user de la guerre. Il est temps de réagir mais en avons-nous réellement la volonté ? La grandeur d'un Etat se construit sur la force avec laquelle il défend ses valeurs et les moyens qu'il met en oeuvre pour leur survie. Est-il possible d'ignorer l'appel à l'anéantissement d'Israël ?

Iran's minorities organize themselves

A front representing Iran's ethnic minority parties has condemned the Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's position on the Nazi Holocaust and the destruction of Israel.

The Congress of Nationalities for a Federal Iran (CNFI), which includes parties representing Iranian Kurds, Arabs, Baluchis, Azeri Turks and Turkmen, condemned the regime's manipulation of the Palestinian issue for its own political ends.

In the statement, the Congress argued that "the Iranian regime's internal and external policies are based on creating tension and confrontation, both inside and outside Iran. By taking an irresponsible position, President Ahmadinejad is trying to deflect public attention in Iran away from domestic economical, political and social crises. The government's foreign policy aims to position Iran as the sole defender of Palestinian people's right by allying with extremist groups to create tension in the Middle East and ultimately derail the peace process between Palestinians and Israelis. While the Palestinians and Israelis are seeking a permanent solution to their problems despite the Iranian regime's intervention, Iran's own minorities are denied the right to voice their demands.

"While we condemn the Iranian government regarding Holocaust and the destruction of Israel, we appeal to all democratic forces and human rights organisations to support the oppressed Iranian nationalities (that comprise 2/3 of the population) towards the establishment of a secular, democratic and a federal state in Iran."

The group, which includes the Democratic Solidarity Party of Ahwaz (DSPA), drew parallels between the plight of the Palestinians and Iran's ethnic minorities. They pointed out that their appeals for human rights, freedom of speech and democracy has led to "gross human rights violations by the Iranian security forces and intelligence agencies. Arrests, kidnappings, illegal detention and the extra-judicial killing of political, cultural and social activists are routine in Iran. The Iranian constitution sets in stone the systematic social, ethnic and cultural discrimination against ethnic minority groups."

The CNFI's statement was signed by the Azerbaijan Cultural Society, Balochistan National Movement - Iran, Balochistan Peoples Party, Balochistan United Front of Iran, Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan, Democratic Solidarity Party of Ahwaz, Komela and the Organization for Defence of the Rights of of Turkmen People.

Maybe the beginning of the end for Mahmoud ? Let's hope that the occidental countries that complain about the iranian president will support the dissidents and help them to take over.

To complete the post of I Love Israel about the blogosphere in Iran: it reminded me about a post i sent a few month ago about this poor blogger condemned to prison because he is using blog to criticize its government. I reproduce below the post i wrote as

BLOGOSPHERE IN IRAN

If Iran, under the repressive rule of the ultraconservatives, is silencing the sound of Western pop, in another area of its culture, a wild cacophony of voices has erupted. The blogosphere is exploding. In Iran there are now more than 100,000 active blogs or weblogs, individual online diaries covering every conceivable subject, from pets to politics. Farsi is the 28th most spoken language in the world, but it now ties with French as the second most used language in the blogosphere. This is the place Iranians call “Weblogistan”: a land of noisy and irreverent free speech.

The collision between these two sides of Iran — hardline versus online — represents the latest, and most important, battle over freedom of speech. The outcome will dictate not only the shape of Iran, but also the future of the internet as a political tool, heralding a new species of protest that is entirely irrepressible.

The growth in Iranian blogging is part of a worldwide surge. In 1999, there were some 50 bloggers on the web; in January there were about 5.4 million; today, according to the blog search engine Technorati, there are more than 23 million.

There are reasons why Iran should be especially fertile ground for blogging. More than 90 per cent of the country is literate, and 70 per cent of the country’s citizens are under 30. Computer ownership is relatively high and internet cafés abound. The first Iranian blog was born in November 2001, when Hossein Derakhshan, an Iranian journalist, posted instructions on how to build a simple weblog in under ten minutes. As Nasrin Alavi (a pseudonym) demonstrates in her new book, We Are Iran: the Persian Blogs, these diary sites cover the gamut: angry, sad, humorous and brave. Like all blogs they can also be self-indulgent, inaccurate, inarticulate and boring. Internet usage is growing faster in Iran than anywhere in the Muslim Middle East, and there are now more blogs in Farsi than in German, Italian, Spanish, Russian or Chinese. Apparently, since the rise of the blogs, graffiti have almost entirely vanished from the walls of Tehran’s public toilets.

The Iranian State has done its utmost to smother the nascent Iranian blogosphere. In 2003 the Government began to take direct action against bloggers — more than 20 have been arrested, on charges ranging from “morality violations” to insulting leaders of the Islamic Republic. One blogger was sentenced to 14 years in prison for “spying and aiding foreign counter-revolutionaries”; in October, Omid Sheikhan was sentenced to a year’s jail and 124 lashes for a weblog featuring satirical political cartoons.

The regime has also reportedly brought in powerful software programs to filter the net and block access to provocative blogs. But the Government remains profoundly alarmed by a tool it cannot control. Ayatollah Hashemi Shahroudi, the head of the Iranian judiciary, recently described the internet as a “Trojan Horse carrying enemy soldiers in its belly”. Many of Iran’s religious leaders recall how an earlier revolution was fuelled by new technology, when cassette tapes and videotapes of sermons by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini were smuggled into the country, undermining the Shah and hastening his downfall.

Decentralised, informal and versatile, blogs offer a potential for secrecy, anonymity and evasion unthinkable in a hierarchical, paper-based information system. A blogger may be arrested, but once his words are out there and replicable, they are effectively immortal and invulnerable. The bloggers have proved so wily and hard to censor that the Government has even considered removing Iran from the internet entirely, by creating a national intranet that would seal off Iranians from the contaminating freedom of the world wide web.

If the Iranian Government succeeds in crushing the blogs, other intolerant regimes will take heart; but if the Iranian blogosphere continues to expand, nascent networks of free thought will follow elsewhere. Already US policymakers are exploring ways of nurturing home-grown Arabic language blogs in the Middle East to spread democratic ideals and increase pressure for change.
It is less the political content of the blogs that terrifies Iran’s Government than the mere existence of this space outside its control, where Iranians are free to say whatever they wish to one another. Here in Weblogistan they can tell jokes, flirt, mock their leaders and share music files, unencumbered by mullahs’ fiats or state decrees.

For a reader from the West, the blogs offer a vision of Iran, far from the chanting crowds, hidden women and ranting mullahs of popular imagery. As much as President Ahmadinejad may seek to turn back the clock and battle “Westoxification”, at the blog level this is a modern country. “My blog is a blank page,” writes one young Iranian blogger. “Sometimes I stretch out on this page in the nude . . . now and again I hide behind it. Occasionally I dance on it.” That may not sound like a call to arms, but in a country where the music is dying it may be the harbinger of revolution.

I just read today that the world population has now reached 6.5 billion human beings. I think that the new Iranian president will be disapointed to learn that he is no more alone on earth!

In the modern history post 9-11, the worst is always to come in the Middle East region.

Everybody thought that Ben Laden ranked at the first position in the category "worst enemy of the Western world" after Saddam Hussein was caught. Al Qaida is gathering a gang of terrorists who have their hands full of the blood of the innocent people. Those lost soldiers of islam live underground or under fake identities. Security services from all civilized countries are cooperating to chase and catch them before they act, or to eliminate them if necessary.

Terrorism is a challenge to the civilization, because it brought back bloodsheds in cities where people were trying to develop peace,ideas, and to create coexistence.

But the gloomy world in which we are living, has generated another frightening alien, a new creature, that came on earth earlier this year : the president terrorist or the terrorist president of Iran. His hands are clean, even if his past is less, his bear is well shaved, and he was democratically elected by his citizens.

Since he will not be able offer to the poorest Iranian people the bread and pistachios that he promised during his electoral campaign he adopted a new strategy.

Iran is the 3rd largest oil producer, but it is still a developing country. May be mollahs should take lessons of management to better use their natural resources at the benefit of their own population, instead of sending their kids dying in a stupid war of proud against Irak .

But it seems that they found another way to lead this country: feed the people with hate in order to make Iranians forget their sad and austere daily life.

Indeed it seems impossible to bring happiness and joy in a country where opponents are tortured to death, where everybody is dressed the same way, where you will never see the hair colour of a woman. The new idea of this smart president is to prevent "modern" music from being aired on radios and tv channels. I think Madonna or Britney Spears will have difficulties to perform in Iran this year.

Fuelling fear and hate, seems to be the mission of this president terrorist. Hatred speeches coming from the Middle Age are exiting from his mouth very naturally. By pointing the Jews and Israel as responsible for the sufferings of the Muslims, he is playing the same game as terrorists. The bombs are in his words and it is not a surprise that Hamas and Hezbollah are his best supporters. It seems that they are belonging to the same breed of serial killers who sending their bombers in the crowded markets of Israel.

It seems that his desire of power is so huge that nobody will deter him from getting his nuclear toy. Only Iranians can withdraw him from power, especially the students who are dreaming of country without religious leadership and open to the modernity.

But the international pressures outside are also welcome. One journalist from le Figaro from December 16th suggested that all ambassadors from Europe should leave Tehran after the anti-Semitic speeches of this terrorist president. This man hates our civilization and thinks that the World is too weak to react. We must show the contrary. This article also discloses without surprise that the Iranian terrorist president is involved in a murder of a Kurdish opponent in Vienna in the 80s.

Let's hope that our governments will not be paralysed by the Iranian cocktail: a mix of oil and uranium.

In the JerusalemPost ,this morning , we can read that Ahmadinejad has decided to ban westen music from radio and tv stations.
Bringing Iran back to the first old days of the Islamic revolution.
Western movies,books and clothes are probably next...But what will he do with the internet?
by the way ,do they have any Mcdonald's in Teheran?

Mahmoud is following the path of his good pal Ayatollah Khomeiny...sure we missed him...

And don't forget that Mahmoud was a key player in the student movement that helped to overthrow the shah, to maneuver the mullahs into power, and later to conduct bloody purges of leftist and secular political groups opposed to creating Iran's strict islamic dictature.

His name was also linked to the 1979 takeover of the U.S. embassy in Tehran, one of the revolution's central triumphal events.

The Iranian president message is actually very simple to decode: “F**k you, I can do whatever I want”.

Why is he so confident?

The war in Iraq
The situation in Iraq is very unstable because of the Sunni insurrection. Therefore, USA needs the support of the Shiite community, which also represent around 60% of the Iraqi population. Moreover, Shiite religious parties have strong links with Iran who supported them during the Iraq-Iran war by providing them financial and military help.
Even though USA could afford a second war, they probably won’t make it. Bush is very weakened by the Democrats attacks and faces the critics of the Iraq war. If he has the Shiites against him, what he has succeeded to make in Iraq will be destroyed, as well as his reputation.

Iran’s natural resources
Iran has great petrol and gas reserves. Ahmadinejad knows that he will thus have the support of Russia and China in the UN, who both need its petrol and gas to conduct their development.
Russia also has economic links with Iran that it wants to preserve.

The ambition to become the new Arab’s world leader
Ahmadinejad’s speech against Israel is made to unite Arab population. Israeli Palestinian conflict is indeed the common point between all these people. That the reason why he has chosen to make his speech about moving Israel to Europe in the Mecca, the most important holy place for Muslims.
He also call to overthrow “corrupt” Arabs leaders to position the Islamic Republic as a model for all Arabs countries.

The Europeans are the only ones that could do something, they thus have to show Iran that they can bite and no just show bark, before it’s too late.

La situation en Irak est extrêmement instable à cause de l’insurrection sunnite. Les Etats-Unis ont donc impérativement besoin du soutien de la communauté chiite, qui représente de plus 60% de la population irakienne. Les partis religieux chiites entretiennent par ailleurs des relations très étroites avec l’Iran qui les a soutenus financièrement et militairement durant la guerre Iran - Irak.
Même si les Etats-Unis ont les capacités d’ouvrir un second front, ils ne le feront probablement pas, d’autant plus que Bush est affaibli par les attaques démocrates sur la guerre en Irak. S’il se met les chiites à dos, ce qu’il aura réussi à faire en Irak sera réduit à néant, de même que sa réputation.

Les ressources naturelles iraniennes
L’Iran a d’énormes réserves en pétrole et en gaz. Ahmadinejad sait qu’il aura le soutien de la Russie et de la Chine à l’ONU. Tous deux ayant besoin de pétrole et de gaz pour accompagner leur développement.
La Russie a en plus des liens économiques avec l’Iran qu’elle voudra préserver.

L'ambition de devenir le nouveau leader des pays arabes
Le discours anti-israélien d’Ahmadinejad a pour but d’unir les populations arabes. Le conflit israélo-palestinien est en effet un sujet fédérateur chez ces gens-là. C’est d’ailleurs pour cette raison qu’il a choisi de prononcer son discours à propos du « déménagement » d’Israël en Europe à la Mecque, premier lieu saint des musulmans.
C’est pour positionner la République Islamique comme modèle pour les autres pays arabes qu’il appelle à renverser tous les dirigeants « mécréants ».

L’Iran est donc dans une phase de confiance. Il appartient donc aux européens, qui sont les seuls à pouvoir agir, d’arrêter d’aboyer et de commencer à mordre, avant qu’il ne soit trop tard…

Mahmoud, you said that that when you delivered your speech at the UN General Assembly in September, you felt there was a light around you and that that suddenly, the atmosphere changed and for 27-28 minutes the world leaders could not blink.

You don't remember Mahmoud ? You also said that all the leaders were puzzled, as if a hand held them and made them sit. They had their eyes and ears open for the message from the Islamic Republic.

Mahmoud, we know that you think we are stupid people. But please, we won't believe that the spotlight is an invisible strengh surrounding you.

What sort of man are you ? You maybe think you are some kind of messenger but actually you are just a dangerous mythomaniac.

And there we go again. The iranian leader, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (what a terrible name to make mistakes and even worse to pronounce!) goes one step beyond by declaring that Shoa is a myth. For him, if the jewish holocaust was true, Europe is responsible and then should pay the price by giving part of its land to Jews instead of Israel.

Dear President. You are a great leader, aren’t you? We know you are so worried about our palestinians neighbours and understand your dedicated motivations in helping those people. And you know, Europe is an Old continent that needs to be educated by great leaders.
